Quambatook Silo Cinema

The Quambatook Silo Cinema evolved from an artist in residence program
run a few years ago in Quambatook which culminated in a short film being
projected onto the Silos. It looked absolutely fantastic and was suprisingly
undistorted if watching from directly infront near the projector. Through the
FRRR program, the Development Group was able to get a grant to purchase a 5500
lumin projector that would allow us to project movies onto the Silo's
ourselves, and the Quambatook Silo Cinema was born.
The Dressmaker was our third movie to be
screened and our most successful to date. Our small population of around 200
was doubled for a night bringing an economic boost to our local caravan park
and pub. Everyone that went seems to think it was fantastic experience.
I couldn't resist taking this vertical panorama when I saw the milky way
rising above the enthralled, and more importantly for astrophotography, still
audience. The photo is two long exposure photos joined together using Lightroom

Reach for the
stars

The tallest and brightest aurora I've seen, with the wide angled lens on
my camera unable to capture its entirety. After trekking through ankle deep
water to reach this particular spot while watching the aurora building, I was
elated it put on its best show once I had set up here. The Milky Way can be
seen through the distinct rays of the aurora. It reached so high into the sky
for about 15 minutes - I would have developed a sore neck if it had gone on for
